TREATMENT OF FEMALE INFERTILITY
Many young couples the moment they are told about the ovulation time and proper time for sexual contact when they follow it, 30% at least achieve pregnancy naturally within 3-6 months time. The rest need evaluation like Tubal patency test, ovulation detection.A good number of patients with irregular periods are found to have polycystic ovaries with hormone changes need correction with medicines. If they do not ovulate, they have to be started on Ovulogens drug to stimulate the ovary to produce eggs which can be in the form of tablets or injection. Clomiphene citrate is the preferred Ovulogen by many Gynaecologist. Injection gonadotrophins either FSH or HMG is added as it is indicated.sometimes polycystic ovarian patients need laparoscopy and selective follicular puncture.T his procedure also helps in folliculogenesis.
Endometriosis is another disorder which affects fertility due to adhesions and the cyst destroying the ovary.L laparoscopic correction helps a good number of patients to conceive after this. Sometimes we have to stop menstruation for some time by giving long-acting GnRH agonist. This prevents further formation of cysts. Following this good number either conceive naturally or respond to ovarian stimulation and conceive.
A woman who does not conceive after the above procedure will have to undergo Assisted reproductive Treatment.
