Female age is an important factor in infertility management. If a woman is young and she has been trying for conception by having unprotected sex with her partner, even after 1year if she has not conceived, she should consult a doctor to find out the problem.
Some young women would have undergone multiple surgeries for problems like endometriosis. They should not wait for 1 year but consult a doctor within 6 months.
If a woman is 35 years she should not wait for long. Within 3-6 months of attempting pregnancy, if not successful she should consult a doctor.
If a woman has to undergo surgery for endometriosis, within 6 months if she doesn't conceive, she should consult a doctor and decide on the latest modalities available to conceive namely ART or test tube baby.
If the BMI is more than 30 definitely must consult a doctor. As the BMI increases at least few woman experiences irregular periods, anovulation and repeated pregnancy loss.

Assisted reproductive technology or test tube baby is a procedure in which egg and sperms are taken out of the body and the embryo is formed in a culture lab.
How Many Type Are There
IVF is a procedure which is usually done for women whose tubes are irreparably damaged and the egg and sperm cannot meet.
ICSI is a procedure which is done for male infertility. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection as it is called is done. In IVF, the female partner is given medicine to produce 7-8 mature follicles which are aspirated for egg. To which either prepared semen is inseminated or one sperm is injected into one egg and resulting embryo is transferred. This gives about 40-50% success rate.
Men who do not have sperms in the semen but are produced in the testicles are supposed to suffer from Obstructive Azoospermia.
